Thyme: lawn replacement
Project Location: Chicago front yard
I removed the uninspired turf grass in this front yard and replaced it with a flagstone path and two varieties of creeping thyme: Thymus serpyllum ‘Pink Chintz’ and ‘coccineus’. The thyme grew vigorously, creating a dense, flowering ground cover that tolerates dry spells and foot traffic.
